RM125 infested with electrical gremlins

Recommended Posts

I've got one of my friends 1996 RM125 in my shop right now, with no spark. The original stator went bad and anyways it ended up with somebody my friend's dad knows, cutting off the connector of the original stator off and soldering it onto a RM250 stator that the last guy trying to fix it bought instead of a 125 stator. It worked for about 10 minutes and the stator is now dead(Checked it out with a voltmeter, unhooked kill switch, tried another CDI and coil that were sitting around). Why would that stator fail so fast, albeit it isnt the proper one, but it does the same job?

There really is no substitute for the proper parts.

Get a book and trace the wiring diagram to check your ground points and your open and closed circuits.

good luck!
