99 CR 250 with 2001 cylinder

Recommended Posts

So about a month ago I sold my 99 YZ 400. Well I didn't last long without a bike. I picked up a 99 CR 250 from a friend with a trashed cylinder. I know that different year cylinders are interchangeable so I picked up a 2001 for a good price. I've read that it's porting is better. Question is now, what will it take to make it work. Bike has a Pro Circuit pipe & V Force reeds. Will I be able to use the 99 parts? Also will the 99 carb be alright with the 2001 cylinder? Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to smoking again lol.

Should be fine. I have heard of some using the 99 cylinder on the 2001 because the porting was better for trail riding...more low end. :)

I have a 2000 keihin on my 01 so I don't know why you couldn't use the 99 carb. Same basic motor..
