forks & shock from a yzf450 fit a yzf250?

Recommended Posts

Will a suspension from a 2007 yzf450 fit a yzf250 same year?

The shock appears to use all the same parts, I understand the stack will differ between the too models. My guess is the shock is the same other then valving.

Most of the forks inter part appear to be the same, but the tubes both inter & outer have different part number. If both bikes use the same triple clamp, what is difference with the outer tubes?

I guess my question is will the 450 suspension fit the 250? And if not what is the difference?

Thanks, Dan

dan,

i have no idea if the parts on a quad from one to another will work.

now, if you are talking about a yz450f and a yz250f (the bikes and not quads) then yes the forks will move right over and the shock might have a slight difference in shaft length which could cause it to ride deeper into the travel a hair.

The fork tubes should fit. Measure the OD and make sure they are the same. Unless your forks are damaged there is now real reason to do the swop. You will need to put in new springs for the weight difference.

I think I read somewhere that the 450s fork are longer, so you will have to measure that as well.
