vertemati problems??

Recommended Posts

hi

i am considering getting a vertaemati even though i have heard horror stories about them lol. I know parts are quite difficult to get and they can be unreliable, but what does actually go wrong with them?

what goes wrong with them?

are there any fixes for the problems that occur with them?

i'm not too bothered about the difficulty of getting parts etc, but would be interested if there is anything that can be done to prevent such problems.

Or if anyone knows a website with all this info on, i would be very appreciative

thanks:thumbsup:

Not sure about Verts. I've 2 x VOR's an enduro & an SM, plus an MX for parts!

I thought Verts had a good parts system around but like I said it'll only really be through specialists or enthusiasts. If you're keen on the bike I'd say go for it & you'll be surprised with these bikes & the help available on this here interweb. But as with all things if it looks dodgy it probably is!

Let me know what you decide to do.

Robs.

Are you talking about the red/silver Vertematis or the blue ones which became VORs after a while?

the red and silver ones;)

I had ones of these (and still have it :) ) the only problem i had was the small weight of the autodeko mechanism on the camshaft .

This part broke and fell into the cam gear which resulted in two broken gears, a broken rocker and 2 bent valves.

I think this was just bad luck, no typical problem.

So when you notice that your autodeko doesn´t work don´t ride the bike and take off the small cover. When i had done this i would had seen the broken part before it went into the cam gear.

Apart from that i had no problems.

I have a S501 on a 02 plate and I think its great, there is a guy near High Whycombe who is the best for rebuilds and repairs details on SMJ.

The factory is still producing parts and will send you anything you need (nearly).

Change the oil (motul) and filter (aprilia scooter) regularly and you should have no probs.

Change the carb to a Keihn FCR and you will see a big improvement.

the factory oil way ot the crank is a bit iffy, Check out supermoto junkie for more info.

Also a guy in scotland has a s501 for sale.

Where abouts in the uk are you?

I am trying to get a load of Vertemati's to the ace cafe for the italian day on the 3 May.
