2006 YZ250F exhaust pops sometimes off throttle

Recommended Posts

When I rev my bike sometimes the exhaust will pop when I let off the throttle I think its a little lean. Can you adjust the carb to richin it up without re jetting?

the one on the under side of your carb. you need a pretty small flat head screw driver.... on yours it might be blocked off.. so you might have to drill out the plug

I maybe a newbie but if your popping isn't than running rich? Isn't there left over fuel that is igniting causing the pop.

I'm new to all this so I could be wrong...

which is the air fuel screw

Your even getting me confused.

Air Screw - Found on modern 2 strokes - adjust the amount of air that is let into the carb.

Fuel Screw - Found on modern 4 strokes - adjust the amount of fuel that is let into the carb.

If you are running lean - Loosen the fuel screw to let more fuel into the carb.

Take a look at the picture. Get an aftermarket fuel screw for easy adjustment

losen, but not more than 3.5 turns out from lightly seated or it will fall out and then you get to buy a new one.

and not to be screwed in farther than 1.5 turns out.

basically, there is 2.0 turns of adjustment and that's it.

change the PJ if you have to

and

as has been discussed about 3 million times in the last 9+ years, decel popping is perfectly normal and does not harm your bike in anyway. actually, if you dont have it, your jetting is too fat and you've lost hp.
