Loosing oil from lower crank vent while running

Recommended Posts

Hopeing for some insight. Bike is pouring oil out lower crank vent on stand while running. The bike has already been on a half day ride since the last oil change and there was no problem. Cold or warm doesn't matter. No other problems-she's runnin' good- not burning any oil. Thinking maybe a passage has been blocked:excuseme: Haven't drained and refilled yet. Any ideas?

The crank case breather is located above the oil sump and prevents the crankcase from building up pressure. Did you confirm the breather tube is not blocked in any way that would cause pressure to build in the case and then blow out oil sporadically? Have you confirmed the oil level is at the correct level or does it show high on the indicator? If high and you're sure you filled to the proper level at the last oil change, check for water in the oil. You may also want to drain the oil through a strainer similar to a paint strainer into a clean container. If there is foreign material in the oil it will be easily detected. Also check the oil filter for proper installation. I'm sure some others will chime in with some good ideas. Good luck and let us know what you find.

... wow, great response. And only a KTM in your avitar :)

You need both (of your) bikes in your avitar to play over here.

(kidding of course)

Hey, nobody knows about fixin' problems like a KTM owner.:banghead: ......Just kidding Bro! Thanks for the response. Yeah checked the tube first thing...good... level is just about right for the amount that it's pumped out...no water ( thank god ). Gonna have to start taking stuff apart I guess; make sure there's nothin that's going to do damage. Was just about dialed in with the new jetting too.:)
