clutch service tips

Recommended Posts

The one ride I got on my 02 wr 125 was in december and the temp was mid 30's. The clutch dragged like an sob when I first started. It seemed to get a better as the day went on. I attributed it to cold tranny oil. However A bud I was riding with who had extensive 125 seat time said he thought the clutch might need some work. though maybe it could be adjusted out but it might be a good idea to dig into over the winter. I have never done any clutch service on any bike I've had so this is/will be new to me. I'm figuring I'll pull the discs and check everything for tolerances etc etc. anyone want to throw any tips out there some do's and don't's?? Tool trick or suggestions.I down loaded an 01 service manual but haven't had time to go through it yet

It most likely has a grooved clutch basket.

When you take out the disks check for grooves in the basket.

FBF makes a replacement that works great after you file your disk tangs.
