Moved the rear axle all the way back?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I got a new chain and cut it a little long to move the tesioner all the way to the back of the bike.

Why did I do this? I heard it was the thing to do?

It is the "the thing to do" if it fits your quiver of different size sprockets. As chain stretches you will not have much room for tightening.

I ran my bike for about 24 hours with the axle almost fully rearward. Pulled a link from the chain and moved the axle forward recently. Not much different.

For normal riding ,, not worth it and you'll probl not notice the diff in handling.

In dirttrack we fiddle with the placement of the rear wheel.

It effects the traction at the start most , and some effect on turning, depending on track size.

Wheel all the way back , generally less starting line traction and turn alittle slower.

Wheel all the way foward , better starting line traction , turns alittle faster
