DRZ won't start after sitting for the winter... ??

Recommended Posts

My '05 DRZ SM has been sitting since October and today I tried to fire it up for the first time with no luck. It has been on a battery tender, so juice isn't an issue. With full choke, it cranks and seems to want to kick-over - but never does. I've tried about 6 to 8 five second bursts with the starter, but I don't want to try much more because of engine flooding fears...

BTW, I'm a noob at motorcycle mantainace so just 'pulling the carb' is a little daunting to me... I do have the tools, but no experience...

October? Could be bad gas. Did you use any Stabli? Could be a clogged jet too.

Also you carb might have been dry. Put it on prime as suggested above before you try again.

Just got back from a quick ride - after posting the thread, I decided to give it one more go with full choke and liberal use of the throttle. Started right up after two tries.

No gas stabilization was used, so I'm sure the gas is not in the best condition... I'm going to burn through this tank fast so I can get some fresh fuel in there.

Thanks for the help!
