THE BILL IS BACK AND SET TO GO FOR A VOTE THIS MONDAY MARCH 16th; TWO DAYS FROM NOW!!!! Fire up your keyboards and phones and email and call your Senators immediately or lose 2.1 million acres. This affects all access from cars to motorcycles and bicycles!! Most land will only be accessible by those capable of extreme hiking. We must ACT TODAY!

just got this email from the AMA:

Omnibus Public Lands Bill to be Voted on Monday, March 16!

Call your Senators NOW! Tell them NO ON H.R. 146

The American Motorcyclist Association urges everyone to contact their Senators to vote "No" on H.R. 146, the Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Battlefield Acquisition Grant Program. This bill was formerly known as S. 22, the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, which would prohibit all motorized vehicle access including motorcycles and ATVs on over 2 million acres of public lands. As you may know, S. 22 was defeated just days ago on March 11 in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Now, following defeat of the bill, the U.S. Senate leadership is expected to employ a little used parliamentary procedure that allows them to overcome the outcome of the House vote on S. 22.

The U.S. House of Representatives preserved your access to vital public lands when S. 22 fell two votes short of the two-thirds majority needed to pass on March 11th. The successful defeat of the bill was only accomplished after thousands of concerned individuals, like you, contacted their Representatives to tell them to oppose the legislation. However, the Senate Leadership wants to try and un-do that success by bringing the bill back as a 1,300 page amendment to an unrelated bill for a vote as early as Monday.

With such a short time frame for action, the best way to tell your Senators to vote "No" on H.R. 146 is to call. Click here to get the phone number for your Senators. Enter your zip code in the "Find Your Officials" box and click on the name of your Senators.

If you would prefer to contact your Senators with e-mail, you may contact your Senators by clicking here. We have pre-written a letter for your use.

Immediate action is critical to help keep 2.1 million acres of public land open to motorized recreation. Please call your Senators and tell everyone you can to do the same.

Next week, every Senator must know to vote "No" on H.R. 146!

Click the link and read.... It is an omnibus bill which combines some 137 bills and is 1300 pages (do you think its been read by our reps). It covers land in nearly every state in the union. That is why it is posted in multiple forums covering affected parts of the country.

It was defeated on March 11 as Senate bill S.22 "Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009" and now, just five days later, they are trying to sneak it through as an amendment to H.R. 146, the "Revolutionary War and War of 1812 Battlefield Acquisition Grant Program."

The bill would prohibit all motorized vehicle access including motorcycles and ATVs on over 2 million acres of public lands by creating over 100 new Wilderness Areas, Wilderness Study Areas & Conservation Areas, many without Public or local involvement or support. It would eliminate existing energy production leases, forcing more dependency on foreign energy sources & further increasing the cost of energy in the US. The proposed Wilderness areas do not even meet the intent of the Wilderness Act as untouched by the hand of man.

I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!

I did this again on the AMA site. Here today, gone tomorrow, and then back again. WT_F on that already.... :):banghead:

It is pretty damn underhanded what they are doing. It just goes to show you how powerful the eco.'s are. If you don't fight them every step of the way, they will bury us. It isn't tough guys, just hit the AMA sight and do the least you can do. Send them a pre-typed form letter.

For Washington State, the D.C. phone number for Murray is 202-224-2621 and for Cantwell 202-224-3441. Use your cell phone-its practically free, quick and direct. Do it now! Remember they are 3 hours ahead of us.

Done, hope it's not too late.

It's just unreasonable that we have to watch these sunsabitches constantly.

They are there to represent us and instead we have to make sure they are not constantly trying to bend us over.

:)

Think Term Limits.

I am watching CSPAN2 live and HR 146 just went through a test vote on the senete floor yea's 73 nay's 21

This is crap, S.22 could not pass by itself so let's tack in onto an unrelated bill and rename HR 146 to serve as the "vehicle to the wilderness act"

shame on all of them who voted yes
