2007 CRF450 rear brake pedal - why so long?

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone out there that has noticed that the rear brake pedal on the 07 CRF450 (not sure if it applies to 08 and 09) is super long and that you need at least size 11 or 12 boots to press it with the ball of your foot whilst keeping the arch of your foot on the peg? I wear a size 9 Fox boot and find that I need to lift my foot off the peg and then place heel on footpeg to activate brake in the right spot (ie ball of foot). I've never noticed this on any other bike I've owned and it really puts me off and bugs the crap out me especially when standing and braking through chop into a corner. I've asked other riders at my club but no one seems to notice it. Am I going crazy? I know its not my imagination because i've measured the pedal and its longer than other brand bikes. What were Honda thinking? Did they get there foot size average from the NBA?

FWIW, I rarely have my boot on the peg and pedal @ the same time.

Please don't take this as disrespect, but you will once you start getting faster.
