weight shaving time, 49mm showas/stock yz Ti spring

Recommended Posts

For the past couple months I have been building up a 2008 yz 250 2s. Everything is going great but the bike is almost finished and I am still comming off an injury and cannot ride. So I thought I'd start shaving weight.

I am running the 49mm showas, and they just came back from RG3. The thing is the stock yz spring is a sweet light Ti spring. The race tech spring on the showas is a bit bulkier and I doubt it is lightweight Ti.

If the spring rate was correct, could I use the stock spring on the "works" shock? Obviously it would have to fit the collars, I just wonder if the different shocks call for different rates even for the same weight rider.

Thanks

the ratio "rear wheel travel/shock travel" determines what spring rate you need. of course it depends on the rider weight also...
