Why not another 610? Plenty of horses and a more tame street oriented engine.

I was tempted by a 450 SMR 08 that my dealer had but I thought the 610 makes more sense if you're not going to race the bike.

The aesthetics are a little better on the 450/510s...to me. Bigger tank on the 610 IIRC so a little better range.

For racing, I would go with a 450 but if it's just a hooligan bike, I would go 510.

A friend had a 450 smr and now a 510 smr.

He would tell you without question go with the 510.

So what did you go with or leaning towards?

Also, was the 610 not enough motor for ya? ........is the 450/510 THAT much different to where it's worth the extra maint.?

HP SPECS?

I've had a 450 for a year and it will break traction with the throttle realy easy, lift the front end competetnly and is the most fun I had in a while.................all you need.................but I'm thinking of punching it out to a 510 next rebuild...............but probably wont cause it breaks traction realy easy , wheelies like a whore and is the most fun I had in a while

hey 1sicmofo, im looking at trading my crf450 for an '09' 510. can u tell me how it goes and if there has been any probs. i rode a dealers 510 at the end of last year but it was quite new and still pretty tight, didnt have the punch my crf has. because the bike was so new i wanna hear what there like once broken in. thankyou

You wont get a 510 with the punch of a crf, the power is broader and has more roll on type power. Once it is looseened up it will fly, just not as hard hitting as a crf.

something is wrong with the 510 in your comparison... there is NO way a CRF will hang with my 510.. nada.. unless it is still sporting the plugged cat exhaust pipe, EPA fuel metering and throttle block.

I was comparing the way the two bikes hit, 510 will not hit hard like a CRF. Thats all I was saying.

not true... that 510 with 12.9/1 compression ratio is like being shot out of a cannon compared to any of the Jap 450s.

I've lined up with plenty of them to confirm my statements.

Yes, but have you ridden a CRF450?

I owned both and agree with the CRF's hit. However, It can't hang with a 510 in a drag race.

Now...we are talkin stock bikes.

I was talking stock when I said the TE510 has 12.9/1 compression ratio.

What year 510 and CRF do/did you own?

stock for stock there is about ~ 8 hp difference.

i ride an '06' crf 450 and have ridden the '09' 510. yes the 510 goes alot faster once it has got a run up but it simply doesn't have the attitude off the mark. not to bag the 510 at all i thought it was a great bike but its all smooth power not as aggressive straight up like the crf is.

'06 TC510 and '06 CRF450R. Raced both.

No one could hang with me on the 510 in the long straights. It would pull to the moon! This is where I would get by a lot of 450's. Unfortunately, the 450 had it in the first 30 yards or so. My competition would always catch up in the tighter stuff. It had a lot to do with the weight difference. I had to stick with the 450 to be competitive. But don't get me wrong, I loved the 510!

chang chang this is all xr2 and i have been saying. the 510 is a great bike but its a much smoother (slower) power than the off the mark power that the crf 450 has. the 510 will smoke the 450 in a big straight line but come up to the tight stuff (and for show boating) the 450 just simply has tat bad ass attitude. want roost crf delivers

not happening in the dunes of Glamis... you will get sandblasted on that CRF if riding with a TE510:smirk:

Back on topic cause he's asking about Husky 450 vs the 510. So would the Husky 450 have a harder HIT that the 510? Man, I gotta just ride both for myself.

I Think he wants to compare the non street legal crf450r honda to

the street legal SM510R.

Never ridden the honda crf450r as i am a asphalt junkie.

Love the Husky riding a fuel injected single is totally new to me

can wait to break this baby, looking forward to my first WFO ride. :p
