Cleaning coroded aluminum

Recommended Posts

I purchased a 2002 model bike and have mild but dirty coroded aluminum steerer brackets, fork anodizing, and othe alloy parts that need some TLC.

Some items are textured alloy so connot polish them to a shiny finish.

Any ideas on how to clean and then protect the alloy from further corosion?

:)

Scotch Brite the worst of the crud off then some rags and Mother's aluminum polish to finish it up.:)

http://www.mothers.com/02_products/05100-05101_b.html Can find it at any auto parts store.

P.S... Won't help on the anodized parts but will work great on bare aluminum. Bout the only help for pitted anodize is re-anodize. Can be a lotta $$ there.
