New Pipe, white smoke

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 CRF 450R that I just installed a MRD pipe, JD jet kit (175 Main, red needle 5 from the top and fuel screw 1.75 out) and Twin Air filter on. I am at 5300 alt.

The bike starts right up and idles with choke and once properly warmed up idles fine with no choke. My only concern is that if you give it any throttle, it blows some white smoke........didn't know if that was lubricant burning off the pipe and/or packing. I shut it down to get some advice form this forum before I let it continue to idle or took it out for a ride.

Any advice would be welcome. I remember piping my KTM690 and my ZX14 and both did blow a little smoke the first time I ran them with new exhaust.

Better to be safe than sorry, before I made the changes, with stock pipe and jettiing I had no smoke issues.

there is some grease on the inside of the tubing that is used when its being bent , it will burn off quick if you ride it , and if your bike did not smoke before it will stop :)
