oiling system for 2001 WR250F

I brought home my new project on Saturday. It is a 2001 WR250F, with the motor in a box. I bought it cheap enough and has a lot of added on extras. I found a used motor to put in the bike. My question is this: The bike is currently setup for a wet sump oiling system. I see in the box of parts are the stock oiling lines and hoses for the dry sump system. Which setup is better? The reason the motor is in a box, is because the rod broke. This ruined both case halves and cylinder. There is one blue spot above the crank pin, on the flywheel, but the lower rod bearing is not seized up. I was trying to find the cause of the problem, before installing another motor. Thanks in advance.
