MC/Stoneyford. Current high elevations and it is pic heavy

Just stellar today!!!

Some great people to ride with and the

conditions we love. Light rain all day

that never stopped. Not to cold in the

lower section and not snowing in the

higher parts.

This time we went The Sled towards 37

and then over to Stoneyford's west edge.

I had some concern about deep water

crossings so Fred checked it out in detail.

The DRZ was fired and ready in 30 seconds!?

Then Senor/Marc and Dave crossed.

Did not take Marc long to find the packed in hard stuff.

So he finds a deeply covered snow trail and proceeds to

blaze a trail up a good incline. We hear this mostly stock

older DRZ scream for at least a good 4 minutes straight.

Then silence. Daves turn! Thats about 25 yards and no way.

The KTM 520 is just spinning it's rear in place and both Dave

and bike feel the effects of gravity when he comes back down.

So as we wait for Dave (sorry coma key failure) Marc

comes from behind and we set off in a new direction.

I need to learn this techniquue for U turns on deep snowy

trails.

Back out on the Stoney side. Note the sign

says 19 and snow is everywhere.

Googles were useless and my face took alot of wet branches.

Fred in the higher sections and wet!

Dave is smaller and a good rider. We came across a

steep rise that also had a snow drift in it. We also

needed to get crossed it. Dave stepped up.

No go. we ned to get to the clearing up top. These pics do this no justice.

So Dave makes a trench. Marc rides and starts with Fred's

bike due to his tire state. We/They manage to get the bikes up.

I mostly took pictures ? After the first bike it was mostly easy.

That was a hard azz 45 miles today.

I think I will go again tomorrow on a bit

easier route.

was at MC about a month ago, water crossing at the bottom of 37 was about

4'' deep. Now looks like you could almost paddle a boat across it. Was at

stony yesterday stage at wolf creek got to the upper trails...forget it! Screw

snow riding. I'd say about 2 or 3 weeks upper trails should be great.

We camped and rode, no snow where we were. Damone might have a picture or two.

Ran into some crazy chick on a sawed off CR 125, riding out where most men fear to tread.

did a little trail maintenance where the trail was down to about 4 inches wide. one bike wound up down in the drainage, about 8 feet below trail grade. we flipped it over twice and it was back on the trail and ready to go. As we were fixing the trail we noticed that in this section there were about 4-5 different areas where the trail was no more than a log spanning two rocks with some dirt thrown on top. The more i get into trail maintenance, the more I see what I have been taking for granted.

Ossi, after seeing the last picture, I would say that does the steepness of that hill justice. I hate the snow, have i said that before.

Great pics - What a difference a day makes. Was in the 60s on Friday at the creek crossing on 37 at 3:30. Wasn't really that deep, but there is a nice little drop off just before the other shore that kinda wakes you up. You guys were in some brutal snow:worthy:

Yep, fun pics indeed! But looks like you guys spent mucho energy in the snow. I was at Digger Pines Friday for the day with a few friends. The snow was still prevalent in the upper elevations where the nice single track is heading towards the lookout and Goat Mt. Instead we turned around, but we ended up heading down Potato Hill, then back over through Hornets Nest. Lots of traction and beautiful weather.

We staged in MC. Then we go find the snowy singletrack.

The snow is a great workout for a bunch of mid fortys guys.

For some strange reason we like this. We can do the ride you

did almost anytime and do. We have a small window for these rides.

I just called Cow and it is open. Now I will do the perimeter

of Cow. Gonna be great!?
