Carpal Tunnel recovery?...still swollen in palm

Recommended Posts

Dr. Mark,

On jan 11 I broke my left radius in 3 places right near the wrist. I was losing feeling in my fingers so when the Dr. Put the plate in he did CT surgery as well. Almost all is well now, except on the bottom part of my palm it's still swollen/lumpy making it hard and painful to hold on to the handlebars. What is this? How can I get it to go away?

Thanks!

You are a bit over two months out. Give it some time.

I work with computers for a living and spend 8-10 hours a day sitting in front of one. A few years ago I had some really bad problems with my forearms, wrists, and hands including pain, tingling, and numbness. It wasn't quite carpal tunnel, but was on that path.

I started seeing an Active Release therapist for treatment and after the first visit, I felt relief from the tingling. It's been a few years and the pain is pretty much gone. I still need to go in periodically for treatments. Up until a couple months ago it had been over a year since my last visit.

It might be worth trying for you - it has helped me out a bunch.

Thanks Doc! Any idea on how long this usually takes?
