When you change the pil on a crf250r it says to get a new washer that goes inbetween the bolt and motor. is this necessary ?

If it looks damaged in any way swap it out for new, otherwise re-use it. I went years with one on my XR, and only swapped it out when I change the drain bolt when the head rounded out.

Like Fixitguy said, inspect it and replace if damaged. If you read the service manuals on any car, they will tell you to replace that washer every time, too.....but nobody does, and as it's not damaged and you don't see any seepage, you're good to go.

you can get away with it for awhile, but i'd get a new one after maybe around 10 uses (thats what i go with). gotta torque it to the correct spec though, otherwise you'll deform the washer faster. otherwise you'll end up like this guy:thumbsdn:
