I have been hearing about this track and have been looking at it for a few years on the way too and from the desert.

So with all the commotion and no verification, I took a drive out to Live Oak Springs to check out the track status.

AS of Sunday, April 5th, 2009 the track is fenced off with "no trespassing" signs up. There is a ticket booth set up. So I sneaked in and walked part of the track. It has definately been bulldozed recently with a bunch of jumps, whoops and berm turns, looks like it will be fun. There were no bike tracks on the sections that I walked on Sunday.

I would sure like to hear something official as to whether this track is going to open up for the public and if so when. If anybody knows anything, please post the info!!!

It's on Indian land, so they won't shut it down as long as it is making money. Support it, behave while out there, eat at the restaurants and gamble after riding (in moto gear)... they'll keep it open if there is money in it

I have ridden there 2 or 3 times now in the past month or so and it has come a long way. They have two tracks so far a 2 plus mile motocross style and a track probably the size of barona with more technical jumps. Both tracks were a lot of fun with really soft dirt. When they open if they haven't already it should be really fun and close place to ride.

still not open yet. I used to ride there on the old track every day after i got out of school. that track was even fun and it was never maintained but stayed pretty good. its all hard ground out there, DG, similar to terrain to cahuilla.

The outdoor track was awesome!! It was preped and watered all day besides a short time in the middle when the truck broke, but it was up and running in no time... I hear they are going to have a quad day anyone know about this?

I took a trip from Yuma to check out this track today. I have not ridden an MX track in over 30 years. Very fun track and should make for some great racing. Nice elevation changes and fun jumps. Great time well worth the trip and $25 to ride. Next time I'll leave earlier and spend the whole day.

Don't get Golden Acorn MX mixed up with Live oaks springs resort GNCC style track which is on the south side of the 8 directly across the street from Live oak springs resort. I rode it last week while they were still working on it with a grand opening July 4th weekend. The roadrunner D-38 desert racing team is helping create this track on the same spot where there was a mx track in the early 70's. It's pretty fun and will be better once it's done. I think first race is slated for August but it's only open to D-38 members I think. You can read more threads about the vollunteer work on the D-38 forum.
