My First Carb Tear Down '01 YZ250F

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have been searching for some good tips on tearing down a carb. I work on all my own stuff, but I haven't been in a carb yet, and just wanted some tips and or cautions.

I have a stock '01 YZ250F carb that has a new overflow problem if given enough time to sit and fill the bowl as well as a new mid throttle hesitation/sputter. These problems came about two simultaneously.

Thanks for you time guys, any input would be helpful.

Just be careful and take your time!! lots of small pieces. Take out each jet and make sure they are clean and you can see through them, make sure your float isnt stuck...just go over everything. It's not hard to do.

You need a new oring for the float needle valve. Will cure the overflow and possibly the sputter. If the sputter is still there, try a new needle and needle jet (emulsion tube).

+1 on the Float Valve suggestion. This is what is causing the overflow. Its an 01"....I would consider replacing the float valve. I left fuel in my06' carb last year and had the same problem.
