i can put my dirt bike into gear without pulling in the cluch when it is off is this normal its my 1 st bike so i dont know and the bike dosent run neads a top end pleas help

Rule of thumb... if it doesn't won't to go, don't force it ?

yea, in fact I try to get the crunching sound on every shift!

It will not hurt a thing to run through the gears when the motor is not running- It's more fun if you make motor noises while you are doing it ?. Why do you think it needs a top end done on it? We need to know what kind of bike it is and if was running when you got it? Does it have any compression? Spark? Gas?

With it shut off I never use my clutch and sometimes even while riding. On my GSXR I recently had I never used the clutch if I was hauling the mail and went through all 6 gears in less than 10-15 seconds. One thing I have been told was (atleast on my Gixxer/streetbikes) if you don't use the clutch while shifting(bike running) make sure you have it rapped out some. If shifting at lower rpm's use the clutch.

at a stoplight the other day, a student driver in front of us did an epic geargrind... he deserves an award...

I tried to start my bike in 1st gear, thought it was in neutral, it started up and going... i cracked the throttle, and i fell over...

it did nead a new top end low compreshon i put it in and it runs goood ? so what u are saying is i dont need to use the cluch why is it there then:bonk:

For starting and stopping.

For keeping engine speed up when bike is going to slow for the gear it's in. Like exiting a turn or on a hill.
