What's the difference?

Recommended Posts

I have heard you can use a rear sprocket for an R on an L, but it needs to be drilled. Is the bolt pattern different, or are the bolt holes a different size?

I don't know - but I do know you can buy a 48 tooth rear sprocket from the TT store for $27.89 (p/n 24-8370). I just happened to be getting one tonight.

Correct.

The R uses tapered bolt heads that are 9mm in diameter.

The L uses flat bolt heads that are 10mm in diameter.

You can use the flat bolt heads on the tapered sprocket but not the other way around.

But why bother if you can get all of the same sizes for both bikes?

i have a R sprocket on my L, ordered from TT store and got a surprise LOL Its steel and i enlarged holes cus the L bolts are flat head and larger diameter, it works fine and the bolts have not moved in a year (used some loctite) but if you just have one around and gonna try it youll be fine, the bolts clear everything and i know others have used a R sprocket on a L without any issues
