Hairline crack in Exhaust cone

Recommended Posts

My son has a 2006 CR85 and the Cylinder has a slight hairline crack in it at the exhaust cone. Right behind the flange where the Spring attaches to it holding on the pipe. It is not affeceting the piston.. I was just wondering if some High temp Silicone from permatex would seal the crack. If I were to clean it off real well inside and out then apply a thin layer over the crack (pressing it in if at all possible because it is so small) on both the inside and out, do you think that would seal it or would help prevent it from sucking in cold air under deceleration. I am trying to avoid buying a new cylinder.

Thanks for the help.

Here is a picture of where it is.
