cr85r expert?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm kinda stuck on what bike I should get. I'm 14 and I'm 5'4 or 5'5 and weigh about 140 or so. I currently have an '05 crf100f and am looking to get a bigger bike with more power. Would the cr85r expert be good for me? This would also be my first 2 stroke. I have been looking at a few different bikes: yz85 rm85L cr85 expert and kx100. The ktm is a little out of my price range. How are these bikes on the trails? Which is the fastest/ best on the track? I have found a couple of yz85, here's the links:

The second one looks really nice for the price that he is selling for.

Here are some cr85 experts:

And lastly, the kx's:

OK... Thanks for your help

At your size and weight you would be better off with a 125. Your weight is a little too much for the stock springs on an 85 and the smaller frame will leave you cramped up. My son moved up to a 125 back in August. At the time he was just a little short which made stopping a slight challenge. By February he had no problems touching and the bike fits him perfectly. Just a thought.

I'm in pretty much the same situation as you, comming off a crf100. You'd be better off to get a 125 2stroke. you'll outgrow an 85 really quickly.

I'm 13 and 5'2 and weigh about 100lbs. I'm just a little bit small for my CR85 but i can go flat footed but my weight is a issue.

The YZ will be too small - they don't make a big-wheel version. You're just about the right height for a CR85 Expert, but you'll outgrow it in a year - maybe not a big deal if you plan on upgrading to a bigger bike once you grow an inch or two. Run the suspension clickers wide open on both ends and the bike will be fine for trail use at your weight. Jetting is almost always wrong on these bikes - they absolutely rip when jetted properly.

If you don't mind riding a green bike (blech), a KX100 might be a better choice for your size - the are slightly bigger than the CR85E, and they have significantly more bottom end, which makes them easier to ride in the woods.

Not to say the CR85E isn't a capable woods machine - my 15 y/o gives me a serious run for my money in the woods on his '02 CR80 Expert. Of course, if he starts to beat me, I just crash into him :).

I just got an '03 kdx200 today. I got it with factory connection suspension (stiffer), fmf gnarly pipe, fmf turbine core 2 silencer, skid plate, 50/50 and dirt tires, and some extra plastics (I might have missed a few...). It was raining today so I couldn't ride it much. But overall I'm really happy with the bike.
