475 Compression

Recommended Posts

Hey Eddie,

I am running freewheelers 5th kit he made for the 475.

My issue is extremely high kick over compression. I can't kick it over on a bet...even with my 260 pounds coming down on the kickstarter. The electric leg can do it...but just barely...even with the superstart kit. Causes the battery to drain fast...so if you don't get it started pretty quick...your going to be charging the battery.

Hot start may be completely impossible...gets stuck just before TDC on the power stroke.

So what are my options to remedy the problem.

Dave set me up by boring my jug to 94.5MM and using the wiseco piston.

Runs hard...but I don't want to get stranded because I can't get it to start.

its a 13.5 to 1 piston yes?

if so the actual compression ratio is 15 to 1 or so.

options-

go to a lower compression piston

add base gaskets

install kicker manual decomp set up if your head is machined for it.

Can I fit more base gaskets and get the chain to reach? That would also mess up my cam timing again....no?

you can ad 2 more single layers.

doesnt change the lobe center enough to be concerned.

I thought it was the 12.5 piston. But it may be the 13.5. So basically an S gasket and and e gasket under the spacer?
