compression and rebound adjustment

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to get my set up on a 05 yz125, is there a rule of thumb for the adjustments, as an example if I soften the compression should I make a coorespnding adjusment to the rebound, slower or faster. not sure if he has enough expeirence to tell me what it FEELS like.

he is 125 so 135ish with gear, midpack C rider.

no, adjusting one setting doesn't automatically involve adjusting the other.

That said i have to provide the infamous exception to what i've said:

If you change the rebound, it influences the compression as well, so it's quite possible to adjust the compression again thereafter if you have started with setting the rebound.

Take a look at MX-Tech's Tuning Guide (last entry) for a HowTo settting up your bike.
