drz kicker hot start

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000 drz400 kickstart with a slant body fcr with the hot start mounted at the bottom. Any tips for moving it out of the way so I can access the fuel mixture screw without having to swing it down a bit & burnin my hands. I can't even fit an extended screw.

Should I remove it altogether & block the holes? Any help appreciated

Had same problem. I did just that; removed it entirely. I like to open the bottom drain bolt between rides & empty the bowl completely. Very difficult to do that with the hot start button in place. Plus very difficult to adjust mixture.

I simply got rubber plugs at auto parts store and put on the manifold & air boot ports. When I actually need the hot start function (very rare actually), I just pull the plug off the manifold, kick it to clear, replace plug, & go.

Thanks for the replies,

Chooken I have used the hot start on occasions when the bike's hot & I'm outta puff, but I've since found that my pilot jet is way too fat. Maybe once this is fixed I can remove the hot start altogether. Great idea Full. Once again thanks for your help . Great site!
