Attn: Bay Area Residents...Can you help out a TT Brutha?

Recommended Posts

If you saw my other post, you know that I was laid-off from my job about three weeks ago here in the LA area. In an effort to weather this economic storm with as little pain as possible, I have decided to accept work wherever I can find it.

That said, I have placed myself in the running for a temporary assignment with a San Francisco law firm that is expected to last about two months. The job will starts at the beginning of April and the chances are good that I will get it.

If anyone could use a few extra dollars and has an extra room that they can spare for a short period of time, I would definitely like to hear about it.

Just looking for a place to hang my hat (it would be really great if I could bring my dirt bike and perhaps my compact pickup and check out your local riding spots too). I am open to any area that has relatively easy access to the BART. I can pay for the room in advance and I would likely be returning to LA every other weekend to see my family.

Tim :)

p.s. I will be in San Francisco one day next week, I just don't know exactly which day. We could possibly meet-up.

For those that don't know Tim he's a great family guy. Maybe someone will let you use a trailer or Motorhome to say in also. The way things are today a few extra $$ would help with the payment on one. :)

Tim good luck with the hunt for a job. :banghead:

Thanks Tom. A trailer or motorhome would do nicely :usa:

It isn't being reported in the media, but the legal industry has been hit hard by this financial crisis. Unfortunately I was a victim.

I've never seen a job market this competitive. My agent told me that job postings are generating hundreds of responses. It brings a whole new meaning to the cliché "you snooze, you lose."

What is your core skill set?

I'm an Intellectual Property Docketing Specialist, which is essentially skilled clerical support to patent and trademark lawyers. To put it simply, I review incoming correspondence and enter data into little boxes, write letters, generate reports, blah blah blah.

Next week is going to be busy. I interview this Monday in San Francisco and Wednesday in San Diego and then the Taylor LaKamp ride on Saturday.

I'm too far north of SF to help with a place, but would be happy to take you riding if/when you start work up here...

Thanks Shawn. I may take you up on that ride.

The temp thing didn't work out, but they invited me to interview for a permanent position which I did yesterday. It went exceedingly well, and at the risk of "jinxing" it, I will be very surprised if I'm not offered a position by the end of the week. If it works out, I will be working in one of the Embarcadero towers.

San Francisco really is a great city. I enjoyed my visit up there very much. I especially enjoyed seeing all of the motorcycle parking downtown. I may have to put some street tires on my 650L. I think I might like living in Norcal, but I wonder where I would ride. SF is a long way from the Mojave.

On to San Diego for another interview tomorrow.

Good luck in this job hunt, and place to crash... I'm in SD, and work for the claimed "largest law firm" in the US. I'll keep my ears pealed for something and check our open apps. However, we had some layoffs not too long ago. I'm not sure we are even hiring.

... do you have a place to crash in SD?? I'm not sure I do, it all depends on amount of time needed... and if your a slob. :usa: Bonus is, you ride!

Thanks Johnny -

Thanks for the offer, but I can commute to SD by rail for a short time if I go that way.

I have a pretty good idea where you work. My interview in La Jolla today was for an in-house position with a major pharmaceutical company. I think they are very interested, and that I might have an offer by early next week. In the mean time, I'm back in SF for a second interview with the firm I interviewed with Monday.

Time will tell whether I move north or south, but it really looks like I will need to relocate to be working again quickly.

Tim
