cdi "green wire"

Recommended Posts

The advantage of the E CDI is higher rev limit. The E CDI needs that terminal "open" to run. S CDI needs that same terminal "grounded" to run. In order to take usefull advantage of the E CDI on an S, the engine needs other mods to raise the power band.

IIRC that would be the following "E" parts (correct/add if needed):

base gasket

cams

complete exhaust (or after market)

and the FCR carb.

Thanks guys, it's good to learn something! :excuseme:

Stock CDI's are very reliable. Aftermarket not so much.

Not sure if I gained anything when I installed the E CDI. I only did it cause I had 1 lying around. Supposedly 500 RPM, but my tach only reads 10K max still (it is good for more). The rev limiter is harder, so maybe thats where some comes from.

As for needed mods, cams, carb and pipe. the stock engine is choked, so fix that and you're good. CDI change is pretty much a waste of money. Unless you're racing and it helps you keep a gear at a corner.

Sorry about not replying fast enough I tried...... :excuseme:
