Trying to loose weight and taking protein?

Hey guys I am trying to loose some weight before the next season and am working or riding just about every day. Should I be taking protein after I work out or ride? In what way does the protein afect your body? I understand it helps rebuild your muscles after you work out. But Should I be taking it?

Absolutely.

Take it after you work out (take a whey protein for quick absorption)

You can take other protein before you sleep (casein) which is a slow release protein and gives your muscles the nutrients it needs to rebuilt themselves properly overnight.
