shimming my new vavles.... question.

OK, just received my head and ready to shim the valves.. My question for you expert is

Would it be easier on the valve (speaking of intake TI valves) if i shim them on the tight side.... like tight 0.005

With a clearance like this, would this make the valve hit the head a little less harder than if the clearance was 0.006 or 0.007 for example..

It has been said, that if you shim slightly on the tight side, it does give your valves an easier life because it lowers the final closure speed.

Some go as tight as 0.004" (in) 0.008" (ex) with no problems. I run 0.005" and 0.010" with no issues what so ever.

Go for it. Sounds good to me.
