I just got back on a very long trip with my 450, and do I mean a very long trip! I was down in Mexico with some friends of mine and we went from San Felipe to La Paz and back, which came out to be exactly 2011 miles. The bike ran great. The only thing that happened, was on the last 107 mile trek, my water pump started to leak out of the seep hole underneath. I just got back on Monday so I haven't even torn it apart yet. I am guessing that the o-ring is bad, The only thing I have to look at is the scamatic in the book.Other than that the bike ran flawlessly!!!I can also tell you guys that I went 102 miles before I had to put it on reserve. Don't ask me, that kind of baffled me also. So I tried it twice, and again 102 miles.My key sheared right when I got the bike like every one else,(before any jetting was done or any mods)to my understanding all the dealer did was install the new key and retorqued to 47 foot pounds.This was before anyone started talking about lapping the crank shaft or anything.I have been gone for two weeks and this stuff about the recall is a first for me.I don't know what to tell you guys but that is the truth!! I am going to get a hold of my dealer just to pick there brains about what every one is talking about, but thats it unless somethign happens!If you have any questions feel free.
