Ama Dualsport

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about doing some of the AMA dualsport events around Ohio, Indiana and maybe Kentucky. I have a street legal xr400 and a wr250 that is not street legal but it does have a headlight and taillight. I want to know if I can use my wr250 for one of these events.Would like to hear from some people that have ridden in these dualsport rides.

Yes you can but you should do it with a plate thats for that bike. Sometimes a ranger or local police will stop riders and run the plate. They don't seem to care about tires, turn signals or those kinds of things. If you put your plate on your chest protector your just asking to be checked.

Ohio is easy to get your dirtbike plated. Do you have the title? If so go to your local DMV and tell them you need to fill out a body change affidavit to make your bike street legal. It is that easy and worth it! I would also get insurance on the bike just in case. The d/s events in Southern Ohio are hard to beat and Ohio has alot of them. There are not all part of the AMA d/s series but they are just as good. Started doing these last year and I am hooked. This website is for the enduro series but most of these clubs also put on d/s so just go to their website and check them out. http://www.aces-races.com/index.htmlhttp:/ This club is putting on the next d/s.http://www.kaeppnerswoods.com/ and this is for the last d/s of the season I think? http://www.enduroriders.com/ Come on out and roost around!
