Squeaking forks

Howdy boys. I just installed a heavier set of fork spring into my 01 XR4.

I installed the spring, washer, aluminum spacer, then another washer.

I did not completely disassemble the forks.

All seems well except I seem to have a small spring squeak noise every time I compress the forks.

The forks seem to be functioning normal aside from this.

Is this normal or did I fock something up?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've seen complaints of this before. Fairly normal apparently.

Had mine done by a pro & the first thing he told me when I picked it up was to expect a little squeaking. It gets less noticeable over time & may even disappear.

+1 above, I've heard the same thing myself after putting in new springs in other forks.

Thanks guys. I took them back apart twice & couldn't find anything wrong so thats kinda what I was thinking.

Its always reassuring to hear it from others who have done the same thing.

Maybe it has something to do with the heavier springs deflecting more or something.

got my suspension done by pros and with the stiffer springs it makes a loud clicking noise when compressed, heres the exciting video showing it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aorJKqtARvM

Mine did it also. I read if you rotate the springs to find there best position so when the caps on they are quiet.

Still didn't get mine to stop completely but not very noticeable now though.
