Suzuki 87 quadsport 230-o3 ltz400 question

i got one with a bad motor. anything anyone needs in here? all gots to go. replaced it with a 03 ltz400 and just picked up a drz400s. i got a quick question about the ltz. are the front wheel bearings serviceable? or am i looking for a whole new hub? turns out riding on the side two wheels for a few miles kills them :bonk:

i have an 87 lt230e

is that the same one you have that has the bad motor

not sure if its an e, whats the diffrenceses

i know mine has electric start but others have kick start

but on mine all the wiring is fryed i think

also my timing is off

ah mines got kick start.case got a hole in from the chain when the swing are bearings were bad. top end toast and i think ottom end has a knock

I know that the 230S is kick start and chain driven I think that the E has electric start and the G i think has shaft drive. I think.?!? I am in the process of rebuilding a 86 230S from gound up sometimes I think that I am wasting my time but it has been fun so far.

i am rebuilding my 230e amd it is just a pain in the but to trace any problems that i encounter

i had the rear swing arm bearings go bad and the chain kinked and punched a hole in the case

tried to fix. failed oil burning and leaking so i pegged it till it died. started it again, did the same thing. started it again did it again, started it again! shut it off and pushed it outta the garage

yes the bearings can be replaced , the biggest problem i found with the stock bearings is that there is no grease seal on the inside of the hub, water gets in and things turn to rust

i noticed the one sided bearings too when i got some for my 86 lt230s. instead of using those, i went to a local bearing shop with the measurements of the stock bearings and got a set of bearings with both sides closed, they have worked fine for years and cost much less then suzuki ones.
