Georgetown, CA info?

Looking for info on the riding area people refer to as Georgetown. I think the official name is something else. We've been riding at ForestHill lately, and are looking for some more single line challenging trails. I heard Georgetown is pretty good; Wouls like info on the following:

What is its official name and is it an OHV area?

When does it usually close for the Winter?

How chellenging are the trails? intermediate, black diamond level??

Where is the best place to park, which trails are best, etc.??

Anything else I should know riding there?

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks.

What is its official name and is it an OHV area? MACE MILLS

When does it usually close for the Winter?IT ONLY CLOSES WITH ANY

MEASURABLE RAIN FALL. BETWEEN 24/48 HR DRY OUT TIME PERIOD OR LONGER.

How chellenging are the trails? intermediate, black diamond level? NOTHING SUPER CHALLENGING ONLY A FEW ROCKY SWITCH BACKS

BUT MOSTLY FUN TRAILS.

Where is the best place to park, which trails are best, etc.?? MACE MILLS. ALL TRAILS ARE PRETTY FUN, ONCE YOU GET AWAY FROM THE

STAGING AREA.

Anything else I should know riding there?STAY ON THE TRAILS.

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks.

:bonk:

Georgetown is the correct name. I think the alternate names you're referring to are

the staging areas. Mace Mill and Rock Creek. Same as what Sugerpine or Parker Flat or

China Wall are in regards to Foresthill.

I like to stage off of Rock Creek Rd. which is just a little ways beyond Baldersdon off

of Wentworth Springs. Less people there but I will usually just park somewhere off one of the dirt roads off of Rock Creek. There's some cool trails in the upper part of

GT. Where ever you decide to park just be careful on those shelved rock step-ups and

remember momentum is the key.

I thought this is the place that "sucks" Those pictures have me wanting to expand upon my once a year trek up there........

Actually Georgetown is the common name, Mace Mill and Bald Mountain are the staging areas, and the official name is the Rock Creek OHV Trail System.

Oh yeah, jfgjr had it right ............. GEORGETOWN SUCKS!!!

I'll have to remember that next time I go there....how sucky it is riding

on these trails. lol... You're certainly entitled to state your opinion and

maybe there's more to it than just sucky trails, it doesn't have as much to

offer as FH , or Elkn's but it can make for a fun day of riding.
