New mrd/ssw with jd jetting.. almost perfect.

So finally got a little seat time on the bike after the mrd/ssw and jd jetting install. It runs fine and all seems almost perfect however I still get a massive bog if I hammer it off idle. Here's the current set up..

sea level

stock engine

mrd/ssw

jd jetting

blue needle 4th clip

165 main jet

45 pilot

2 turns fuel screw

what cha think?

go 2.5 turns on the fuel screw. i went to 2.75 and im thinkn its a little much compared to hen i had 2.5, mine is excatly the same specs as yours except for my 3x3 and im near sea level

So how is set up like you have it now? and how was it at 2.5?

I take it turning the fuel screw is adjusting the fuel/air mixture, so clockwise being lean and cc is rich?

Yeah the 3x3 is a factory dealio on the E or R models..

Not sure what you're talking about there. It's a 3 inch by 3 inch hole made in the top of the airbox. Does not come from the factory that way.

It is on the E models or R models if a kawasaki. All you have to do is remove the snorkle plug.

Yes it does. IF you have an DRZ400E or KLX400R as stated above.

I read that and will try is out just thought it was odd that it never stumbled and was rock solid before that change is pipe and jetting.

aiight I had a minute to look at it today, totally makes sense... I'll get to it this week, was out for a ride today and noticed while the bike was warming up the head pipe was glowing red which I hadn't noticed before. Also when the choke is on there is no bog.. is this because the mixture is richer or the increased velocity is drawing more fuel through the carb similar much like the ap mods needed will do..

or is that head pipe glow and the bog a symptom of jetting issues.

I sure love the bark of the mrd but doing wheelies down the street is harder now because people a mile away are looking.. no more sneeking around

Alright I still haven't modded the ap or diaphram because the bog is so slight while riding (worse will on the stand) anyhow, one more question why is that with the choke on I have zero bog?

the bike needs as much fuel as it can get as early as it can get from the ap.the choke just mimics it.

you could to the same thing by richening the jetting every where.but just like when the choke is on the the bike will run badly everywhere else.

Ok I've followed your specs from the get go Eddie and I've read of the two ways of removing the enricher which do your recommend?

connecting the 2 left over nipples is the easiest/best way.

Ok so I did this today put the bike back together and still bogging.. so I let it warm up and take it for a quick spin and it's still bad, I had a look at the ap while working the throttle and I see gas and bubbles leaking out of the pump body, well that can't be good so I pulled it apart and all is tight. What the hell have a done now, It wasn't leaking before and I don't see any damage on the diaphragm... have I missed something?
