43mm vs 46mm

is the 46mm that muck better its worth the extra weight? i found a 98 kx250 46mm front end for a $100

i need to be able to load my bike with out a ramp.(only in the little truck) plus those dam unexpected rain ruts that need to be wheelied over :bonk:

The new stuff on the KX450F is 48mm. KX250F is 47mm. Someone certainly seems to think it makes enough difference??

Heck -- they might even weigh less ! Unless you have compared the weight, I would not assume they weigh more.

btw -- 3mm is less than 1/8 inch.

the difference will be so small that its probably negligable, take your watch off and youll probably save more weight.

aluminum is 1 lb per cubic inch, 3mm all the way down the fork is 7.875 sq inches. how thick is the wall on the fork?

aluminum is more like .098 lbs per cubic inch..

calculating 46mm OD and a 3mm wall aluminum tube @ 24" lng = 1.476 lbs

calculating 43mm OD and a 3mm wall aluminum tube @ 24" lng = 1.377 lbs

i don't know the average wall thickness or actual length, just picked reasonable numbers for a comparison...

i will guess that the added weight is less that 1/4 pound..

(concidering that the internial parts may also slightly increase in weight)
