Honda honda foreman 400 lost drive to back wheels

my uncle was driving his 2001 foreman 400 yesterday and lost power to the back wheels. When he put it in 1st gear he heard a snap and now only the front wheels are pulling it around. The back wheels spin freely but when we spin them you can here a clicking noise. Would he have broken a universal joint or something?

Here is how you tell put the bike on jackstands or anything to keep all 4 tires off the ground take out the plug in the rear diff the place were you add fluid, start it up put it in gear watch inside the hole if the ring gear spins you stripped the center axle splines, if it dosent then you broke a u-joint or drive shaft. my buddys 450 foreman did the same thing it was the center splines on the axle.

the gears stripped on the rear axle diff it happend to my buddys 400 foreman h ditched that one for parts and boutght a 500 foreman
