tm 41 part fell off (i think) what was it???

i've got a fairly old xrsonly mikuni flatside (tm 41?) and it started bogging off idle today ... after getting the tank off and checking everything for loose bits i see some fairly non dirty threads next to a hole going down into the carb from the air cleaner side at 12 oclock high as it were ... i looked up a mikuni diagram and it said that bit was a "boss for power jet" and had no more info ... this bit is right above the other air mix screw that turns with a flat head screwdriver a

could this missing screw be causing the bogging?? if it is in fact actually missing

plug looked good

92 xr600r 400-500 ft above sea level where it worked just fine last week and at 5000 the week before

and after the bogging started the air screw on the right side stopped having any affect on the idle no matter how far out i backed it
