Air temp and Jetting

Recommended Posts

As the air gets cooler, the jetting gets leaner correct? Or is it the other way around???

As the air gets cooler the bike will run leaner. As the air gets hotter the bike will run richer. You also have to factor in variables like humidity and barometric pressure which both have an effect on jetting.

Thats what I thought. When its cooler out there is more Oxygen in the air, making it run leaner.

It's not more oxygen in the air so to speak.

It's air density, everything except H2O contracts the colder it gets.

You're close, it's the colder the air, "density" increases, thus you get more oxygen in a given area.

How do I know? I separate the air we breath and pull out 95% oxygen of it all day all year.

Then I give it to "Pink Panther" to turn sand to all kinds of fiberglass.

Also, humidity plays a role in it as well...humid air is less dense than dry air.

The more water vapor, the less dense air becomes.

Confusing you try the link.

Man I love this stuff! http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wdensity.htm
