Yz 80 jetting question

Recommended Posts

Since it has gotten cold here (50-60 deg) my sons 2000 YZ 80 is running like a pig with a lot of spooge out the silencer. I turned the pilot screw way out, like 2.5 turns and it ran a lot better. I need a smaller pilot jet, correct? How many sizes should I go? Any help would be appreciated! This isn't a Barry Grant Dominator carb so I am a little lost here....

The cooler it gets the leaner the bike will run so you should have to richen the jetting and not lean it out. I would look at the rightside crank seal and see if it has worn out causing oil to bleed into the crank case.

There is also a great jetting sticky in this forum, check it out.

Ok so that is what I was doing when I turned the screw out? I saw the jetting thread but if you scroll down it reads: "no you were wrong, If you need to turn the screw out you need a bigger pilot jet" then back and forth so many times I gave up. I guess I will get 2 jets either way and try them. I can take off that big hex nut on the bottom to get to the pilot can't I? Thanks!
