Strange Forearm!

Recommended Posts

A co-worker fell and injured her arm several weeks ago, and did not go to the doc until recently. The doc told her she had fractured her ulna. See x-ray.

Does it look healed and does it also look like there may have been a fracture of the radius?

About the missing distal end of the ulna:

Apparently injured herself a good while back and the result was that her ulna fused to something (my guess is the radius). She told me she could not rotate her palm “up”, like accepting change.

So the surgeon removed the distal end of her ulna. Is that the standard repair for something like that?

That is called a Darrach procedure. I haven't done one in 25 years. I thought is was just of historic interest. Obviously, this doc hasn't opened a book in at least that long.
