fuel stabilzer and then drain carbs?

Recommended Posts

During the summer I drain my carb bowls during rides to prevent varnish, but when I store for the winter, and have mixed in fuel stabilizer and run the bike so the lines and bowl are full of the mix should I still drain the bowls? Some say no, the Stabil will prevent the varnish, others say yes. Those that say no say that I could dry out some seals and have a leak issue after the winter. Any opinions?

Thanks!

How about just draining the carb period?

An empty carb can't collect varnish can it?

Personally I haven't seen fuel turn into gummy varnish until it sits for years! I don't think 6 months of fuel in the bowl would have any adverse effects.

If anyone has any factual evidence that it does, post it!
