Removing front sprocket on 1999 CR250?

Hello

I'm changing sprockets and the chain on my 1999 CR 250.

I don't have the Honda sprocket holder tool shown in the service manual.

Any advice on how to get the sprocket off? Also, is the sprocket nut a conventional thread (counterclockwise for removal)

Thanks

keep the chain on to remove the bolt.... put bike in gear and have a buddy stand on the rear brake to break the bolt..... remove chain then sprocket...this method worked for me. the bolt is conventional

An even easier way is an impact gun. Usually a few hits with an impact will take it right off.
