Honda 400EX rebuild

Recommended Posts

Hey every1 !

This is my first thread so I thought I would start by asking about my 400ex being rebuilt.

So far I have:

-punched in a 440,

-12.5:1 wiseco M series dome,

-stage 2 hotcam,

-port and polish,

-3 angle seat cut,

-new honda valves (i know... should have gone aftermarket),

-new honda valve guides,

-kibblewhite light weight HD valve spring kit,

-dynojet kit,

-HD clutch,

-k&N filter,

-Pro-Curcuit T-4 slip on,

-down two teeth in the front sprocket,

-durablue eleminator axle,

-will run vp high octane fuel

I would still like to:

-replace timing chain

-aftermarket header (maybe replace the T-4 with a different brand full system)

I think that's all I can do unless anyone has any suggestions to get a little more juice? What else can I do?

My thought is that the money you would pump into the 400, would be better spent on a new 450!

There is really no advantage to the KW springs with your set-up. The money would be better spent on a good used FCR carb. Definetly replace that stock cam chain with one from a 02-08 CRF450. The VP fuel will not be necessary either, Get some good fresh 92-93 pump. Have fun!
