rear shock help

Recommended Posts

hi,

my friend just bought a crf-230 rear shock off a member on here. And he has it on the bike, but when he sat on the bike the shock compressed. So he got off the bike and the shock raised back up. So is it just that the shock needs tightened? or is it bad? Tomorrow i am going to take him a pair of spring compressors to take the spring off and see if it is blow and to tighten. I know if you tighten a shock to much it wants to "pogo".

so any help will be greatly appreciated and i will pass it along to my friend!

thanks dan :ride:

It is supposed to compress when you sit on it and come back up when you get off. How much did it compress?

Honda's website shows the bike to have 9 inches of travel, so about 3 inches of sag might be a good place to start. Search this forum for info on how to set sag.
