Foaming oil coming out of crank case

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at a used bike and after riding it for about 5 min. came back to the driveway an noticed foaming oil coming out of the crank case vent tube(just dripping a little. The guy said he just changed the oil and may have over filled it. It does look a little on the full side. Could this be the cause or is there another problem causing this, I've never seen this happen before? Thanks!

Yeah, sounds like he overfilled it after the change. Check the manual for the correct amount. Make sure the engine is warm when you are checking the level as well.

sounds like he may have overfilled it just a little that and if the bike hasnt been running for awhile before its normal for them to push a little moisture out of that as well causing a white milky oil wheeping outta that line as well

The crankcase vent is also where moisture gets purged out of the system, so a little bit of milkyness is normal. But, if it is really milky, then you need to consider that you might have a leak in your cooling system.

Sounds like a leak in the cooling system. If you do not fix it, it will blow your motor.

Laugh all you want, but when coolant mixes with oil and is run for a while it turns milkey and foamy. It is torture on your rings and valve train.
