Recommended Posts

I have recently been looking at two bike a 04 ktm 125 and a 06 yz 125, I know that both were MXA's bike of the year but which one is better, and for what reasons?

Hey I'm in almost the exact same position! Although I'm looking at a 00 yz and 04 ktm. I didn't know ktm was bike of the year.

Yamaha

06+ suspension is widely considered the best 125 suspension

05+ have aluminum frames along with 6 speed transmission

How much are they asking for the bikes?

The yz125 is a much better bike unless you go close to the brand new 125sx's

+1 IMHO the sx doesnt match up with the yz. I just prefer the yz over the sx in all aspects.

and you def. cant beat the suspension on the 06+ yzs, by far the best in stock form on the market.

I've owned both, if I had to choose between a 06 yz or a 04 SX i'd take the YZ. The KTM motor is a fair bit stronger but the YZ chassis is better, now if both bikes were 06's it'd be a very hard choice, coming down to price for me. 07+ the SX is better, more nimble chassis and stronger motor.

Both bikes are very good bikes but even if the yz is an 06 it is probably not much better than the 04 ktm. It really depends on your riding style, where you will be riding, and which bike suits you since the specs of the bikes are very different you dont want to get one bike and later realize that you should have gotten the other one. But if it were my choice i would go with the ktm because of the power, but cost is also a big factor.

YZ125 :thumbsup::ride:

Even if the two were of the current models ---- Power-, suspension-, overall performance-wise, you're on the best 125 in the class

The yz's suspension was pretty good 2006 and up, the only ktm I would take over the 06+yz is a 2009 or 2010

Definately the YZ. It would be close if it were a late model KTM but 2004 is too dated to compare with the 06 YZ.

LOL brand fights are RETARDED.

I say go with the yz because it's newer(more updated suspension) but if they were the same year then I'd say sx because the suspension would be just as good and KTM engines run stronger than yamis

Well I looked at the yz cosmetically it looked good but when I rode it the clutch was warped, but I found another one for about 2600 and the ktm for 1500 but the yz is in way better shape

The YZ125 is always on top stomping the 125SX, all-the-time, even for the '09 and up model ---- whether it be modified or stock GUARANTEED mate!

How's this for NOT being too self-opinionated and for NOT being a KTM bluff, Mr :ride: haha!
